Welcome to the Faculty of Business and Accountancy (FBA), University of Malaya.
The Faculty of Business and Accountancy at the University of Malaya is a centre of excellence for business education and research in the South East Asia region. We have developed an outstanding reputation, locally and internationally, for the quality of our teaching and research.
Currently, we offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs, i.e., Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Management (MM) and PhD programmes. These programs attract the most able students from around Malaysia and overseas. We also have a high percentage of foreign students which for the year 2009 stands at 17%. We currently have one of the most active Ph.D. programs in the country.
We have an enviable record of attracting the highest achievers from across the region. Gaining admission to our programs is highly competitive – at postgraduate levels, only one in four applicants are successful in gaining entry - and, at undergraduate level, most of our students have obtained straight As in the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) Exam.
Our faculty members, who excel in both research and teaching, are committed to providing students with a top-rate business education. With the concerted efforts of our faculty members, we achieved international recognition from the Association of MBA (AMBA) in 2007. We are, so far, the only public institution of higher learning in Malaysia accredited by an international accrediting agency and are now working towards obtaining the international recognition European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) from the European Foundation for Management Development as well as AACSB International accreditation. We know the process will be long and requires a lot of effort but we are committed to obtaining further international recognition.
Our Bachelor of Accounting is recognized by many professional accounting bodies such as MICPA, CPA (Australia), CIMA and ICAEW. In fact we are the first institution outside of Wales and England to be given the accreditation. We have also managed to get accreditation from the Internal Audit Association (USA) for our MBA Internal Audit specialization.
