26/06/2007 > Responsible Business

The ESC Rennes School of Business sets up a Centre for Responsible Business. This new Centre is directed mainly at research work designed to further enrich Masters teaching programmes such as the MSc in Managing Diversity.

The Centre will explore three avenues of research:
• Sustainable development,
• Ethics, leadership and corporate social responsibility,
• Management of diversity and pluralism.

Managerial implications
These three fields are vital for businesses that wish to maximise their performance in the long term in a complex global environment.

The new centre will be part of the Research Department and headed up by Taran Patel, an ESC Rennes specialist in questions relating to the management of diversity. She was recently a guest speaker at the World Diversity Leadership Summit initiative promoting corporate social responsibility at the United Nations, organised with Global Compact by Virtcom, one of the new centre's partner companies.
Ongoing training programmes for executives and company chiefs will also be on offer at the CER.

In-house competencies
In addition to the school’s international resources (42 nationalities and over 80% international faculty), this Centre will be also supported by the expertise of a group of 10 or so research professors who are keen to synergise their knowledge production on these topics.

The CER's first major event will be an international conference to take place at the ESC Rennes on October 9, 2007: "Managing Diversity, issues for multinational corporations based in India", in partnership with the Association France Union Indienne.

Fields of expertise of the Centre's active membership of research professors

02/05/2008 > Partnership with the Franco-Japanese Management Centre

The ESC Rennes School of Business has just signed a partnership agreement with the Franco-Japanese Management Centre (Centre Franco-Japonais de Management), based in the Institut de Gestion de Rennes (IGR-IAE).

This agreement will enable students at the two schools to benefit from teaching developed at both these further education institutions in Rennes.

The ESC Rennes School of Business third-year students will thus be able to enrol on the Franco-Japanese Management Centre Masters in Business Administration (MAE) course taught at the Rennes IGR-IAE.

This drawing together of the two Rennes institutions demonstrates the keen desire on the part of both to combine their academic skills to provide excellence in management training in Rennes for Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
