The I.A.E. de Lyon has come a long way since its creation fifty years ago and is now one of the most important French University centres for teaching and research in management. I.A.E. de Lyon is the only establishment of its kind to offer a full range of courses, from Bachelor degree to Ph.D. level, in an international and professional environment. Armed with its University expertise combined with a wealth of collaboration developed with professional networks, it offers quality teaching adapted to the demands of the real professional world. Its primary mission is to provide its students (over 4,000) on initial degree courses and its continuing education participants with top-level higher education in management, to prepare them for the various management sectors in both public and private companies. I.A.E. de Lyon also strives to create and develop research activities, both fundamental and applied. The three I.A.E. de Lyon research centres, including one also associated with EM Lyon, the Lyon School of Management, is home to more than 200 Ph.D. students and is a highly significant French management research centre. Their activities enrich programmes constantly, thereby keeping them well in the forefront of knowledge in any given field. Since the CAAE, “Certificat d’Aptitude à l’Administration des Entreprises”, (Certificate of Aptitude in Business Administration), a "historic" diploma that forged the reputation of the I.A.E. movement - was first granted in 1956 to the present day, the path has always been paved with two strong objectives: internationalisation and connexions with the business and professional communities. Nowadays, entering the I.A.E. de Lyon means integrating with an international University network founded on strong partnership agreements in 36 countries in all five continents, a professional network of 23,000 contacts, a network of over 15,000 graduates and the national I.A.E. system (30 I.A.E.s producing nearly 25,000 students annually). Links woven with local economic and institutional networks have given birth to loyal, buoyant cooperation. The programmes can be general or specialised in a particular aspect of business or management. The I.A.E. de Lyon offers State-approved national degrees (also called State degrees) and University diplomas and certificates, areas of specific teaching developed in a field of excellence to complement its degree courses. All degrees are available under both post- and pre-experience programmes; students thus benefit from the advantages of a mixed public, improving the quality of the exchanges in the classrooms and participation into group-projects. Executive education also proposes specific initiatives like personalised Management modules and inter- or intra-business tailor-made vocational sessions.
